And so we come to the last competition of the season... JAMfest Northern Jam, hosted in Blackpool Winter Gardens last weekend. For many of the Varsity squad, this was to be their last ever competitive cheerleading performance which made us more determined to put on a good show. Also, this was the first time our Junior Varsity Level 2 Co-ed squad had ever competed in the history of the Divas. After working all year to perfect their routine they were also ready to pull out all the stops in their routine.
Unfortunately, as seems to always be the case, the last practice before comp threatened our chances of success with several injuries being sustained. Unfortunately, Sophie, a strong Varsity side base, ruptured the ligaments in her knee meaning she was unable to compete. Illness from our amazing back Ellie also rendered her unfit to compete. Amazingly, Alicia (JV Captain) offered to step up and managed to learn the entire Varsity routine in just 2 days which we cannot thank her enough for!
Competition day came with a very early start. JV were up first and put out a fantastic performance despite several injuries. The majority of stunts hit and the pyramid was amazing - an excellent first performance!
Later, Varsity performed their routine with many of the girls taking up positions they never had before. Although the routine was perhaps not to our usual standard, we had fun and performed amazingly despite the last minute changes. We cannot thank Captain Amy enough for her quick thinking and rearrangement of the entire routine!
After a strange visit from JAMfest's mascot Jammy, the awards were announced - JV took an inrecedible 2nd place in their first ever competition and were just 1.1 mark off 1st place! Varsity took 3rd place (which seems to be a recurring theme!) with the winners of their division taking Grand Champs, the competition was very high!

So that marks the end of our 2014-15 competitive season which has undoubtedly been the most successful yet! This allows for some rest and recovery as well as a few showcase performances in final term which we will keep you posted on. Special thanks to the Executive Committee of both squads who have worked tirelessly to ensure the season has gone to plan. Husts for the new committee will be held next term so watch this space!
