On Sunday 24th January, three group stunts headed to Legacy Cheer and Dance in Newcastle to compete in the regional event. After only one week of training following the Christmas holidays, sessions had been long, tiring and for some groups, very early!

After a detour back to Durham to pick up a forgotten uniform, we were finally in warm up and ready to take to the floor. Despite the nerves before their first performance together as a stunt group, Defiance put in a super performance followed by Destiny whose routine was one of their best to date. However, as their routine finished, injury struck for our level 3 co-ed group, resulting in them being unable to compete again later in the day.

Despite concern for a fellow squad member, the show had to go on and Dynamite went on to perform their first level 4 routine this year, executing some very advanced skills under difficult circumstances.

Following a second performance from both our all-girl level 3 and co-ed level 4 teams, it was time for results. Destiny came 3rd place in their division, whilst Dynamite achieved 2nd place. Defiance were then awarded winners in the all-girl level 3 category, ending what had been a day of very mixed emotions on a high!

A huge congratulations to everyone who competed - you all performed incredibly! Can’t wait for our next competition when the level 2 co-ed squad will be competing for the first time this year!
