With the competition season over for another year, the Divas have a whole term to focus on their charity work. We have been raising money for ECCDS for over a year now which is a charity based in the North East of England who run regular classes and other education activities specifically designed for children with Down Syndrome. Click here to visit their website to find out more about their fantastic work. So far, we have raised over £1000 for the charity by taking part in Water Wipeout last year and a portion of our profits from the Intercollegiate Competition also went straight to ECCDS.
As we have absolutely loved everything we have done so far for ECCDS, on the 7th June, the Divas will be 'celebrating' the end of our exams by taking part in The Colour Run, described as 'the happiest 5K', at London's Wembley Park. The Colour Run seems like a regular 5K when you look at the start line, with runners all dressed in white. However once the race begins, volunteers throw colourful paint all over the participants as they pass by so once we cross the finish line we expect to be covered head to toe! We would really appreciate any support you can give us as any donation, big or small will make a huge difference to the children at ECCDS. You can donate at our JustGiving page via this link. Our target is currently £800 but we would love to exceed this!
Also, keep your eyes peeled for the Divas taking part in other various charity events around Durham next term...
